The LAS Samegrelo-Zugdidi Legal Aid Bureau lawyer, Natia Kvartskhava, successfully completed solving the legal issues of the IDPs from Abkhazia. She had been working for several months.
In February, 2018, persons registered in the unified database of the socially vulnerable families, IDPs from Abkhazia – M.K. and L.A. who lived in the old building of the former printing house, applied to the LAS Zugdidi Bureau for the help.
The mentioned people had very bad economic conditions. The living space where they live was evaluated by the experts as “dangerous and useless for living”. It was necessary to move them to another accommodation for their safety. However, the Commission on IDPs Issues made the decision to meet demands of only 10 households. The list did not include families of M.K. and L.A.
The public lawyer Natia Kvartskhava prepared the administrative complaint and demanded the annulment of the Commission’s minutes of the session and its decision. The lawyer grounded her position on the circumstance that the Commission had violated provisions of the law and made an unlawful and ungrounded decision.
On February 8, 2018, the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees of Georgia reviewed the mentioned complaint and satisfied the demand: the Ministry will provide the families of M.K. and L.A. with the long-term accommodation in Zugdidi.
