On October 9-10, a working meeting took place between the Public Defender's Office of Georgia, the Legal Aid Service (LAS), and the Georgian Bar Association (GBA). The meeting focused on the implementation level of the right to a fair trial, including the right to effective defense in the country. Additionally, discussions covered issues such as the preservation of neutral evidence in criminal cases, the scope of confidentiality obligations, aspects of confidential and unrestricted communication between attorneys and defendants, and the right to defense for administratively detained or arrested persons. Lawyers shared with the Public Defender's Office their insights on the challenges encountered in their practice, and the parties agreed on the need for closer future cooperation. The meeting was held as part of the EU project 'Support to the Public Defender's Office of Georgia' (DAI)."
