Natia Berdzenishvili, an attorney of the Mtskheti Legal Aid Bureau, was appointed to represent a disabled child, who was a victim of child abuse and its parent demanded 15,000 GEL from the police as moral reparations. Notably, Mtskheta District Court found the offender guilty and sentenced him to nine years of imprisonment.
The decision was likewise supported by the Supreme Court and the Appellate Court.
The complaint filed by attorney Natia Berdzenishvili was accepted by the Mtskheta District Court. A few months later, the attorney asked to decide the matter in absentia, following all legal procedures.
The Mtskheta District Court satisfied the request of the lawyer of the minor disabled child and ordered the defendant to pay 15,000 (fifteen thousand) GEL in favor of the child victim, and also, since the interests of the disabled child victim were defended in court by the Legal Aid Service of the State Legal Aid Service, the defendant was ordered to pay 300 (three hundred) GEL in favor of the Service.
The decision entered into legal force.
