The attorney  of the Bureau of Specialized Affairs, Tea Kaulashvili, won the case

The attorney  of the Bureau of Specialized Affairs, Tea Kaulashvili, won the lawsuit  in favor  S.S., whom  she represented.

The issue concerned the disagreement over the Georgia Law "On Freedom of Speech and Expression" that had been pending in the Tbilisi City Court for more than two years. The claimant argued against S.S. for defamation against a certain  person, and demanded from him to deny the allegedly spread information.

From the time the statement was submitted until the conclusion of the case, attorney Tea Kaulashvili maintained that the case concerned the S.S.'s right to express an opinion towards the plaintiff, which is protected by the Georgia Constitution, international treaties, and special legislation, and that this right cannot be limited. The freedom to express one's opinions is a defining feature of a democratic society, and it is enhanced when that voice comes from a person of arts.

The action against S.S. was eventually dismissed in favour of him after the court fully agreed with attorney Tea Kaulashvili.

We congratulate Tea Kaulashvili and hope that her future endeavours will be   the same fruitful.
