The LAS Zestaphoni bureau attorney, Patman Arzikiani, defended interests of Zaira D. accused of stealing.
Zestaphoni District Court found the accused guilty and sentenced her 3 years of restriction of liberty. The convict had to serve the half of the punishment in penitentiary establishment and the second half would be considered as conditional sentence.
The defense party appealed the sentence of the court of first instance in the appellate court and demanded mitigated punishment for the convict. In the court, the attorney, Patman Arzikiani, made focus on the circumstances that Zaira D. pleaded guilty and cooperated with the investigation, as well as fully reimbursed inflicted damage. The material situation of the convict should have been considered too: she was registered in the database of the socially vulnerable families and received allowance.
In the end, Kutaisi Appellate Court shared position of the public attorney and changed 3-years punishment in conditional sentence.
