On June 1 of  this year, we visited children in family-type homes in Khashuri.

June 1 is the International Day of Protection of Children's Rights.

The Legal Aid Service is one of the key organizations that protect children's rights everywhere, in all instances, including administrative institutions, schools, courts, investigative bodies. We maintain the tradition by holding  a charitable event to celebrate  the Children's Day.
On June 1 of  this year, we visited children in family-type homes in Khashuri.

The Deputy Director of the Legal Aid Service, Ketevan Muradashvili, introduced the children to the LAS children's website www.children.las.ge. The website gives the youngsters useful information on legal, psychological, and social issues that is both interesting and enjoyable. On the website's forum, kids and their parents have an opportunity to talk about issues that are crucial to them.
Additionally, the children  have access to fiction and movies. The website is available in seven languages (Georgian, English, Russian, Armenian, Azerbaijani, Ossetian, and Abkhazian), and  is adapted for people with disabilities (hearing impaired, weak and blind).
A children's website is creatively innovative. It has a  “host",  Lily by name. This is an animated character,  a female "rights defender/attorney",   a friend to all children. She  instructs kids in "children's" language how to use the website, what to do if they are stopped by the police, etc. Lily advises site guests  on a number of vital topics.

Revaz Arsenidze, a specialist of the Human Resources Division, introduced the children to the specifics of the legal profession, and psychologists- Keti Jakeli, Nino Chachava and Mariam Tonia offered them role-playing games.
We delivered  the family-homes stationery, sweets and toys purchased with the money collected by the  Legal Aid Service Administrative staff.   The initiative of the Service was fully shared by the networks of stores "Pepela" and "Byblus", who gave various gifts to the children living in the Khashuri family homes.

The Legal Aid Service wishes to express its gratitude to both organizations for their support of the charitable endeavor, and once again congratulates the children on June 1 - the Day of Protection of Children's Rights.
