Today, interns of the LAS Tbilisi Legal Aid Bureau held mock trial. They discussed a case regarding premeditated murder committed for mercenary purposes.
In the framework of the mock trial, students demonstrated practical skills of processing criminal case, experience of working on documents and theoretical knowledge. The trial ended up with the victory of the defense party.
The mock trial is a part of the internship (law clinic). It is held at the end of the internship program and aims at demonstrating of knowledge and skills gained by the students. In the framework of the law clinic program, interns attend theoretical studies. The students work on real criminal cases, draft legal documents and meet with defendants.
The law clinic project has been carried out for 8 years now and supports professional development of the law faculty students of various universities. Nowadays, law clinics operate on the basis of the LAS Tbilisi, Akhaltsikhe, Gori, Kutaisi and Batumi Legal Aid Bureaus.
