The LAS Tbilisi Bureau lawyer, Matiko Khurtsidze, defended the family of Imeda B. whose social allowance was suspended.
The family of Imeda B. as socially vulnerable received allowance since February, 2015. In January, 2015, the economic situation of the family was checked as a result of which they were rated 59040 points. This figure became the ground for suspension of the allowance for the family. After Imeda B. presented his complaint regarding the score, his family was revised again and this time they were given the higher 65980 points.
Because of the cease of the allowance, the family who consisted of 2 blind persons with the first group disability and one under age child, found itself in a very hard economic situation. The 2 objects were mentioned in the declaration – a heater and a gas cooker. One was a present from the Federation of the Sightless People and the other was purchased by 3-year installments which should be mentioned in the declaration.
The LAS Tbilisi Bureau lawyer, Matiko Khurtsidze, drafted a lawsuit and represented the family in the first instance court. As a result, the court made decision in favor of the plaintiff: it annulled the individual administrative act issued by the Social Service Agency which gave a high score to Imeda B.’s family and obliged the Agency to issues a new act.
In accordance to the court decision, the administrative body issued a new document giving 12780 rating points to the family and restored social allowances for them.
