The LAS Tbilisi Legal Aid Bureau lawyer Ioseb Natroshvili defended interests of citizen G.G. last year. He was accused of use of marihuana on the basis of the first part of article 273 prima of the Criminal Code of Georgia. On November 22, 2017, G.G. was sentenced a fine in the amount of 1500 GEL. Moreover, he was restricted some rights according to the Law of Georgia on Fight against Drug Crime.
As it is known, on November 30, 2017, the Constitutional Court of Georgia found the provision “without doctor’s prescription” of the article 273 of the Criminal Code of Georgia unconstitutional toward the article 16 of the Constitution of Georgia. So the convict asked the lawyer Ioseb Natroshvili to apply to Tbilisi Appellate Court with a motion to annul his verdict.
On January 5, 2018, the Criminal Law Chamber of Tbilisi Appellate Court fully satisfied the motion of the public attorney as a result of what G.G. was released from the criminal liability and the restriction on his rights was removed too.
