Last week the LAS Kakheti-Sighnaghi Bureau employees carried out important information meetings. On February 26, the public lawyers – Beka Javakhishvili and Archil Tukhashvili met with probation officers and probationers at the Tsnori Probation Bureau. The topic of discussion was activity of Legal Aid Service, eligibility criteria for receiving free legal aid assistance and the rendered services. The probationers asked several questions regarding different legal issues. The most interesting was questions regarding legislative amendments in drug policy.
On February 28, the same lawyers and consultant Giorgi Shermadini met with Sighnaghi Municipality Assembly deputies and employees of the apparatus.
The lawyers introduced the local self-government body representatives with the activity of Legal Aid Service. They also talked about eligibility criteria and rules for receiving free legal assistance, conditions and grounds for assigning a lawyer to the case. The attendees were informed about new legal services that became available for a new group of beneficiaries after the mandate of the Service was expanded.
