Problems of Accommodation for IDPs Was Discussed in Zugdidi

On February 18, a working meeting was held at the GYLA Zugdidi office, dedicated to the problems of provision IDPs with accommodation. The meeting was organized by the GYLA and it was attended by the representatives of local self-government, Governor’s office, Public Defender’s Office, Legal Aid Service, Unit of IDPs, Government of Abkhazia, European Union, Danish Refugee Council, Red Cross and local CSOs.

They talked about such issues as: grounds for appeal of refusal on giving accommodation; procedures of granting the points by the Council; criteria for establishing social conditions of accommodation beneficiaries; living conditions of IDPs in collective settlements, etc.

In the framework of the meeting, the head of the LAS Zugdidi bureau, Roman Keidia and the Bureau consultant, Nino Minjia, introduced to the society their experience in the direction of the IDPs issues.

According to the statistical data, last year, the LAS Zugdidi and Poti bureaus, rendered legal consultations to more than 2200 internally displaced persons.
