With Support of the EU and the UN, the LAS Lawyers Attended Trainings

On December 23, 2-day training, organized for the LAS lawyers, came to an end. It covered the issues of legal proceedings in a court of first instance. The training was delivered as a part of the EU-UN joint program - Enhancing Access to Justice and Development of a Child-Friendly Justice System in Georgia.

The moderator of the training was Koba Bochorishvili – expert invited by Association of Law Firms of Georgia. He talked about the issues of Code of Civil Procedures: drafting of a claim and its registration, types of action, procedures of court proceedings, court fees, provisional measures and evidence issues. Besides, the participants of the training reviewed some court decisions and carried out several practical exercises.

With support of the EU-UN joint program, 2-year study program designed for the LAS lawyers started in July, 2016. The program covers topical issues of criminal, civil and administrative law. The topics of the training were identified through the opinion poll conducted among attorneys employed at legal aid bureaus and private practicing lawyers contracted by LAS.

This year 40 trainings were delivered with support of the EU-UN joint program. Legal Aid Service is closely cooperating with Association of Law Firms of Georgia and Training Center of the Georgian Bar Association in development of training modules and training delivery issues.

The EU-UN joint program will continue its efforts to support professional development of the LAS lawyers in 2017 too.
