For the first time in Georgia - the use of artificial intelligence is being launched in the field of legal services.

"The future is today!"

On September 30, at the Sheraton Metechi Palace, a conference "Using Artificial Intelligence in the Legal Aid Service" was organized by the LEPL Legal Aid Service.

The Legal Aid Service is the first agency in Georgia to use artificial intelligence in practical activities when providing legal advice. The innovative service introduced in the free legal aid system, will significantly increase access to legal aid and save beneficiaries’ time. The program, developed with the help of artificial intelligence, will be embedded on the service website and allow people from anywhere in the world to get legal aid. This service will especially facilitate access to legal aid for Georgian citizens abroad, while foreigners who do not speak Georgian can receive consultation in English, German and Russian. The platform https://www.knowledgetools.de,helps to create an artificial intelligence program for the Legal Aid Service which is also the first in the Federal Republic of Germany. With its help artificial intelligence has been successfully introduced in the services of the Bundestag and several German Ministries. The conference was attended by the representatives of local and international organizations in Georgia, and the donors who are directly involved in improving free legal aid services  provision. The conference was attended online from Germany by Thilo Wendy, founder of Knowledge Tools International, Oscar von Kosel, legal engineer, Stefan Brydenbach, who reviewed the artificial intelligence algorithm program.  Lado Sirdadze made a practical presentation of the program.

Razden Kuprashvili, Director of Legal Aid Service: “The project also presents us with certain challenges and helps us to overcome them. The Legal Aid Service provides an average of 30,000 consultations per year. Most of them are verbal counseling. In order to improve the quality of our services, an innovative method is being introduced, which allows consultations  in writing , in addition to the "hotline" telephone consultations.

Using artificial intelligence, the legal advisers of the service will be able to give a written consultation in a few seconds through a few clarifying questions.

In addition to the resources saved, the service will have a generalized approach to the provided consultations, which,  in its turn,  will help to ensure their  quality.

The conference participants pledged their full support in the implementation of the Legal Aid Service's innovative project.
