The conference was held in Mestia

In order to raise the legal awareness of the population, within the framework of the information campaign "Let's make the law accessible to everyone" , organized by the Legal Aid Service, on July 20, in Svaneti, at the Center of Culture and Art of the Mestia municipality, the Lawyers' Association and the Legal Aid Service arranged   a conference on the Traditional Law and  the Modern Law System - Comparative Analysis

The conference was attended by the  Elders of Svaneti, who haver been  participating in traditional justice until now, as well as attorneys  from different regions of Georgia, the employees of the  local administration.

The conference was opened by Executive Director of the Bar Association Giorgi Chekhani. After the reports, the second part of the conference was devoted to the discussion, in which all the conference participants were actively involved.
The participants were welcomed by the Director of the Legal Aid Service, Razhden Kuprashvili, and the Chairman of the Bar Association, Davit Asatiani.  Reports were presented by the Chairperson of the Bar  Professional rights Committee of the Bar Association   Onise Margiani,  and the Chairperson of the working group of the Jury Trial institute of the Bar Association,  Levan Makharashvili. 

The second part of the conference was devoted to the discussion, in which all the conference participants were actively involved.

At the end of the event, the Chairman of the Bar Association, Davit Asatiani, awarded the elders participating in Svanetian  traditional justice with special certificates. One of the most experienced and respected employees of the Legal Aid Service, Avtandil Japaridze, a consultant of the Mestia Consulting Center, who has been providing free legal aid in Mestia since 2013, was also awarded.
