On June 23, 2025, the Director of the LEPL Legal Aid Service (LAS), David Simonia, delivered the LEPL Legal Aid Service 2024 activity report before the Legal Issues Committee of the Parliament of Georgia. David Simonia mainly focused on statistical data:
In 2024,
- 21,512 cases were received by the Legal Aid Service for processing.
- 21,104 consultations were given;
- 2,629 legal documents were drafted and prepared.
- 111 acquittals were rendered with the efforts of public lawyers,
Increasing public awareness and expanding access to free legal aid services are two of LAS objectives. About 6,000 people attended the 121 informational outreach workshops held by the Legal Aid Service in 2024.
In this regard, the Legal Aid Service's Mobile Consulting Center performance was particularly fruitful. 62 meetings were held in Guria, Samegrelo and Shida Kartli regions, including mountainous areas and villages close to the occupied zone. Hundreds of people were provided with free legal advice on the spot.
