On March 10, the LAS Sachkhere Consultation Center lawyer, Inga Nozadze met with the beneficiaries of the non-profit organization “Support to the Disabled People - Integration” and other interested parties. The meeting was held at the local-administration office of Sachkhere municipality.
As a part of the meeting, Inga Nozadze introduced to the attendants the criteria necessary for receiving free legal aid. The focus was made on the services which Legal Aid Service renders to the disabled: namely, the organization assists individuals with psychosocial needs to get the status of recipient of support, also in the scope of the law, it renders free advocacy service on the issues regarding the social protection of the disabled.
Moreover, various other issues were discussed at the meeting: legal guarantees of the human rights of the disabled; existing legal database to defend social rights, right to education and work of the disabled, as well as, support to live independent life. The discussion also touched upon the obligation of the state to create adapted infrastructure for the disabled.
The LAS regional bureaus and consultation centers periodically carry out such meetings with the aim to raise legal awareness of the population.
