From November 25 till December 10, the global campaign on Violence against Women and Domestic Violence was taking place around the world. Legal Aid Service was actively involved in this campaign. On November 27, Samegrelo-Zugdidi Legal Aid Bureau held a meeting and invited representatives of the state and non-governmental sector, lawyers of private practice and journalists.
The representatives from Zugdidi District Prosecution, Zugdidi Branch of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Social Service Agency Branch of Zugdidi, Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti representation of the Probation Bureau, non-governmental organization “Institute of Legal Protection”, Zugdidi branch of JYLA, organization “Saunje”, organization “Mercury”, organization “Tanaziari” discussed the latest legislative amendments made into the legislation that regulates cases of violence against women and domestic violence.
On December 5, the similar activity was carried out in Mestia. The consultant of the LAS Mestia Consultation Center, Avtandil Japharidze, informed the guests about the services which the LAS provides for victims of violence and the representatives of vulnerable groups. The members of the local administrative body of Mestia Municipality and representative of the local NGO attended the meeting. The lawyer Rusudan Pachkoria from the LAS partner organization “Institute for Legal Protection” made the presentation on the history of establishing the Movement on Violence against Women.
