Meeting at Zemo Alvani Self-Government Body

The LAS representatives continue to hold a meeting with members of the local self-government units. In October, 2017, the elections of local administrative bodies were held to form the governing units in all regions of the country. As a result of this, personal structure of the municipalities has changed fully or partially. The local self-administration bodies often have to deal with socially unprotected individuals or members of other vulnerable groups which are likely beneficiaries of Legal Aid Service. That’s why it is necessary to inform the employees of the self-government units about the work and services of Legal Aid Service.

On February 22, 2018, the LAS Kakheti-Telavi Legal Aid Bureau lawyer Aleksi Tusniashvili carried out on-site consultation in Zemo Alvani village, Akhmeta district. The employees of the local self-government bodies and part of the village population attended the meeting. The Bureau lawyer informed the attendees the case handling rules regarding cases of beneficiaries of support, specifics of the work of Legal Aid Service, rules for provision free legal assistance for the socially vulnerable individuals prescribed under the law. In order to raise awareness on the Service, the local society was informed about the activities of Legal Aid Service. The Zemo Alvani population received brochures containing information about the Service.
