Representatives of the legal aid service in Georgia will be involved in the legal aid service reform in Uzbekistan

Razhden Kuprashvili, Director of Legal Aid, held an online meeting today with Nikolai Kovalev, Associate Professor (Wilfrid Laurier University), Criminology Department; Attorney and attorney, Law Society of Upper Canada.

The deputy directors of the legal aid service Nino Meladze, Sulkhan Gvelesiani and the head of the analytical department David Simonia also attended the meeting.

It should be noted, that Professor Nikolai Kovalev is actively involved in the reform of the current legal aid system in Uzbekistan and for him the experience of the Georgian legal aid service as one of the most successful models of the legal aid system in the region, is the best example. He was therefore particularly interested in the current reforms. It was decided to continue the online discussions on this issue.

Legal Aid Service is ready to support the ongoing reform in Uzbekistan and to help Uzbek colleagues to create an effective free legal aid system.
