A mock trial was held in Tsageri

On June 29, by the Legal Aid Service initiative, a mock trial was held in Tsageri District Court. The criminal case was heard by 12 jurors selected from the Tsageri population. At the mock trial, all the parties- prosecution and defense, the accused, the victim, and the witnesses, consisted of all the legal aid staff. A mock trial, in which jurors and trial attendees have to be residents of a particular region, aims at raising the legal awareness and potential of the population and preparing them to participate in real jury trials.

Director of the Legal Aid Service, Razhden Kuprashvili: "The Movement “ Let’s Make the Law Accessible to All" offers various projects to the population. Today, for the first time, we have conducted one of the activities - a mock trial, in which the population of the region are directly involved. We are happy that the Tsageri people have been involved in today's mock trial with great interest and enthusiasm.

We think the goal has been achieved, as the legal issues presented at today's trial, turned out to be much clear, legible and easy to remember for them. "The movement "Let’s Make the Law Accessible to All" is supported by USAID-PROLoG and the COE. Activities across the country will continue until the end of the year
