The 2022 Action Plan for the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities was adopted

On May 11, Legal Aid Service (LAS) presented the 2022 Action Plan for the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). The initiative was supported by the South Caucasus field presence of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) with funds from the UN SDG Fund. 

Director of the LAS Razhden Kuprashvili addressed the attendees with welcome notes. The keynote speakers also included the representatives of the state and non-state institutions working on the rights of PWDs, including the Chairman of the Committee on Human Rights and Civil Integration of the Parliament of Georgia Mikheil Sarjveladze, his Deputy Aluda Ghudushauri, the Prime Minister’s Advisor on the Human Rights Niko Tatulashvili, Senior Human Rights Advisor for the South Caucasus Field Presence of the UN OHCHR Vladimir Shkolnikov and the Head of the Department of Persons with Disabilities of the Public Defender of Georgia Irine Oboladze. 

 Head of the Zestaponi Legal Aid Bureau Gela Beradze introduced the experience for the year of 2021 in the field of protection of the rights of PWDs, and the Legal Aid Service 2022 Action Plan. A discussion was held and the participants expressed their views on improving the protection of the rights of PWDs in the future.
