A meeting with the US ambassador was held in the Batumi bureau

On April 21, the leadership and staff of the Legal Aid Service (LAS),  the Director of the LAS  Davit Simonia, Deputy Directors  Nino Meladze and Ketevan Muradashvili met with the United States Ambassador to Georgia Kelly C. Degnan  at the Batumi Legal Aid Bureau.

The first Deputy Director, Nino Meladze, gave the guest a special presentation including a report on the  Legal Aid Service projects implemented with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

The discussion touched on certain outcomes achieved through the aforementioned initiatives. Iamze Zandaradze, head of the Batumi Legal Aid Bureau, gave the visitors an overview of the current situation on  access to justice in the region, provided statistics  on the cases the Bureau generated, and on  the beneficiaries enjoying  free legal aid.

Ambassador Degnan noted that the Legal Aid Service performs far more efficiently under  the assistance from the United States. Therefore, the US will continue to support Legal Aid Service and institutional strengthening, both of which are essential for helping  free legal aid beneficiaries.
