Training on Case Bank Working Skills for the Contracted Public Lawyers

The lawyers with private practice, who are registered into the contracted public lawyers’ registry of Legal Aid Service and render free service to the citizens, attend training dedicated to Case Bank working skills.

On April 7, the third training in turn was held for the registry lawyers. As a part of the training, the lawyers who work in Kakheti and Samtskhe-Javakheti got introduced with specifics of working in Case Bank program. The event was opened by Irakli Shonia, the deputy director of Legal Aid Service. The training was led by the director of Idea Design Group – Mariam Zangaladze who has been working on development of Case Bank for several years.

After involvement in this computer program, the registry lawyers will not have to present hard copies of documents in order to receive their remuneration. Besides, the data submitted by them will be automatically accumulated in the statistics of the Service. This will enable the organization to have improved data regarding the rendered services.

The update and improvement of Case Bank was implemented in the framework of the EU and UN joint program Enhancing Access to Justice and Development of Child-Friendly Justice System in Georgia. Till the end of this year, web application of Case Bank is to be elaborated which will enable the lawyers of the regional legal aid bureaus to access the program not only from their offices but also from the any point where wireless internet is available.

Case Bank has been implemented in Legal Aid Service since 2014 with support of UNDP and the fund Open Society – Georgia. The computer program collects data regarding the handled cases, rendered consultations and drafted documents by Legal Aid Service. The program enables to process and analyze statistical data.
