Statement by Rajden Kuprashvili, Director of the Legal Aid Service, regarding the Global Campaign Against Women and Domestic Violence (November 25-December 10) :)

Violence against women as well as  domestic violence remain a challenge for the modern world, despite the COVID Pandemic. Responding to violence, preventing it and  assisting victims is the responsibility of every member of society. The role of the Legal Aid Service is particularly important, since the organization provides free legal aid, including legal representation to victims of violence,  regardless of their ability to pay.

The Legal Aid Service, within the mandate provided by law, actively campaigns to raise public awareness of violence against women and domestic violence issues throughout the year. Periodically, public advocates and consultants undergo special training in this area, so that the legal services we provide are highly qualified not to  pose any threat to human rights.

We are ready to provide assistance to all interested parties in accordance with the requirements of the law, even in the event of a pandemic.
We believe that civilized society should unite to eliminate violence against women and domestic violence. It is through joint, consistent action by human rights organizations that we can reduce or even eliminate cases of violence.

Those interested can call the hotline of the Legal Aid Service, 1485 or 292 00 55, write to us on the website and social network, or visit the offices of the Legal Aid Service in Tbilisi and  in  the regions. The addresses are also available on the website of the Service www.legalaid.ge and Facebook

The Legal Aid Service is ready to respond appropriately to women and any complaints about domestic violence.
