Minor Was Diverted from Criminal Liability

The LAS Tbilisi bureau attorney, Nino Tabatadze defended a minor, Zaza J. who was accused of stealing.

The investigative measures have been carried out on the case. The victim and the witnesses have been all questioned. The accused pleaded guilty and regretted about the fact.

After examining the case materials and having an interview with the defendant, the public attorney, Nino Tabatadze concluded that criminal prosecution against the minor should have been stopped. In the motion, submitted to the prosecutor’s office, the attorney indicated at the international standards of juvenile justice and grounded that there was not a public interest to proceed with criminal prosecution against the accused. Moreover, according to the obtained information, Zaza J. was characterized positively by the school teachers and the neighbors.

The prosecution’s office fully satisfied the submitted motion, signed agreement of diversion with Zaza J. and stopped criminal prosecution against the minor.
