The Legal Aid Service (LAS) Director, David Simonia, met with Caucasus International University students on October 15.
David Simonia discussed the peculiarities of the legal profession while introducing the youth to the free legal protection system operating in Georgia and the Legal Aid Service's (LAS) offerings.The meeting was opened by Giorgi Khatidze, Dean of the Faculty of Law of Caucasus International University.
As the audience was represented primarily by the students from the Caucasus International University's Faculty of Law, D. Simonia spoke specifically to them about the Legal Aid Service's "Paralegals" project, which aims to improve legal awareness of population and increase its accessibility throughout the country.
A "paralegal" is a person who has received specialised training in legal matters and is qualified to provide the general public primary legal consultation. Students showed great interest in the topic, and the majority of them expressed a strong desire to be involved in the project.
